Along with winter comes the winter sports seasons at Lincoln Christian. One of the most competitive and anticipated of these sports is wrestling. The Crusaders have had very impressive seasons in past years, and this year’s team has the potential to be one of them.

Coach Lockyer shared some goals and analysis of the upcoming season. He stated that a spirited and competitive practice room would be the key to the success of the team. He also stressed the importance of good relationships between the wrestlers in the competitive environment.

He was very explicit with his main goal for the team this year. “The goal for wrestling is to try to get as many qualifiers for state as we can,” he said. However, he also disclosed the importance of short term “day to day” goals for the team.

Coach Lockyer also mentioned the strengths and weaknesses of the team. Of the 14 wrestlers on the team this year, 9 have varsity experience and have worked with Coach Lockyer before, which is a strength. On the other hand, the team lacks lightweights which will hold them back from competing in some weight classes at tournaments. In general Coach Lockyer was confident that the team would be a strong opponent in all of its competitions.
