Black Panther is the latest installment to the Marvel Universe as it hit theaters February 16th. It tells the story of T’Challa, who is Black Panther, and his struggles as he takes over the throne of his country, Wakanda, after his fathers death. The movie has already been a success, making an estimated $201.7 million at the box office. This character of Black Panther has been seen before in other Marvel movies, but this is his first stand-alone movie. The movie does a great job of providing backstory to understand the characters, and also tells a very compelling story that only left me wanting more.

This movie did more than just have cool action scenes and big explosions. It had a story that made you care about the characters and understand their perspectives. The antagonist, Killmonger, was especially good as well. Many movies do not have an antagonist with very compelling or understandable motives. Killmonger is a very complex and interesting villain that the audience can almost start to agree with. This aspect of the movie made it especially interesting. The story was not the only good part to this movie, however. When it came time for an action sequence, Black Panther still delivered some very thrilling sequences.

Aside from the story the visual effects were very impressive. This was a very good looking film and it only added more enjoyment to the already intriguing story. The movie also has its share of humor which was not over the top but enough to make the characters very likable and provides the necessary comic relief. The movie was able to explain so much about the setting and characters in just a short amount of time. Black Panther was a very good time at the theater and only left me wanting to see more of the hero.
